The church wanted one table that could seat a small group after a service and hold a coffee urn the rest of the week. Round, so nobody sits at the head, and heavy enough that it would not walk across the floor.
The top is five boards of walnut from one log, bookmatched across the centre so the figure mirrors itself. The pedestal is four hollow staves, splined at the corners, which reads as a solid block but keeps the weight where two people can still move it.
Two coats of hardwax oil and nothing else. Walnut this dark does not need help; it needs to be left alone.
Delivered on a Saturday morning before the first service.
